Sangamon County Launches Emergency Mass Notification System

Sangamon County has implemented Sangamon Alert Messaging (SAM), a high-speed emergency mass notification service provided by OnSolve, LLC. The SAM system will serve as the backbone of the County's emergency communication outreach to both residents and staff. The system sends telephone calls, text messages, emails, and posts to social media channels to inform residents how to better protect life and property.

Sangamon Alert Messaging (SAM) will be used in emergency or time-sensitive situations to keep residents informed. We might use SAM in situations such as Severe Weather, evacuation notices, floods, boil water notices, criminal activity, and missing persons/children.

SAM will allow County officials to effectively communicate time-sensitive messages using the SAM's robust dialing infrastructure that is entirely managed by its parent company, OnSolve. This access will enable calls to be delivered seconds after public safety officials launch a message. Additionally, the County will have the ability to better target notifications geographically, only notifying those community members impacted by an alert.

In addition to County officials, several Government Agencies and School Districts can send alert messages using the SAM system. At this time, residents can also sign up to receive alerts from:

Registering for SAM is 100% FREE and simple. Residents can customize their alert preferences and choose to receive alerts via phone call, text, and/or email. Residents can sign up for SAM at or by visiting

Contact information accessed through SAM will only be used by Public Safety Officials for emergency notification purposes. Your information will not be shared or sold.
