Rep. Murphy, UIS to Host College Information Night

State Representative Mike Murphy (R-Springfield) is partnering with experts from the University of Illinois System to host a free information session for families and students to learn about the college admissions and financial aid process. The session will also address topics and questions specific to first generation college interested students. The event is open to all and will take place at the University of Illinois Springfield on Tuesday, November 30 at 6 p.m.

“Whether you’re a student in high school, the parent of a student, considering applying to college soon, or the parent of a younger child working on planning ahead, this information night is for you,” said Murphy. “The goal here is to make the college preparation process less daunting, especially for first generation students, and help students reach their potential regardless of whether they are considering a public or private university, or another career path.”

A representative of the University of Illinois Springfield will present helpful information regarding financial aid, admissions, and any other topics specific to first generation students interested in attending any public or private college. This presentation will be followed by a question & answer forum. Masks will be required to attend in compliance with UIS policy.

“The University of Illinois Springfield is pleased to partner with State Representative Mike Murphy to support families with first generation students,” said Vickie Cook, UIS Acting Associate Provost for Enrollment Management. “Students and their families are invited to bring any questions related to campus life, admission, and financial aid to make college a reality.”
